LCITI on Strategic Trade Management Legal–Regulatory Exchange

A Strategic Trade Management (STM) Legal-Regulatory Exchange was held on 5 February 2026, aimed primarily at legal experts and government lawyers from Indonesian ministries and agencies involved in STM. The exchange was designed as a reciprocal forum encouraging participants to share insights, experiences, and perspectives through interactive discussions and question-and-answer sessions.

In the session “Overview of Strategic Trade Management and Its Legal Foundations,” Wenny Setiawati delivered a presentation on “The Implementation of Strategic Trade Management in Indonesia: Urgency and Challenges.” The session drew on findings from prior research and policy papers on STM, highlighting the importance of strengthening Indonesia’s legal and regulatory framework for strategic trade governance. The discussion aimed to build a shared understanding of STM and its key legal elements, clarify how STM differs from other trade regulatory regimes, and provide an initial overview of how STM legal instruments interact with existing laws and regulations. The session also reviewed Indonesia’s current STM-relevant legal and regulatory landscape as a basis for further policy development.
