The Legal Center for Corporate, International Trade and Investment (LCITI), Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia, in collaboration with the Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN) and the Transnational Institute (TNI), organised a regional workshop entitled “Green Industrial Policy in Southeast Asia: A Global South Perspective for the New Economic Structural Transformation.” The workshop was held on 25–27 August 2025 at BRIN, Gatot Subroto, Jakarta.
The workshop brought together academics and researchers from Southeast Asia and beyond to discuss industrial transformation, development policy, and sustainability challenges from the perspective of developing countries. Against the backdrop of the global climate crisis and the growing push toward decarbonisation, discussions emphasised that the transition to greener industries requires not only technological change but also institutional, regulatory, and economic governance reforms.
Designed as a participatory forum, the workshop facilitated in-depth exchanges on green industrial policy and structural transformation in the Global South. Through expert presentations and interactive group discussions, participants explored policy experiences, constraints, and future pathways for developing more inclusive and context-sensitive strategies to support sustainable economic transformation in the region.
